Police invite journalist Francis Maingaila to give statement on attack
Zambia Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says investigations into the fracas in which two Patriotic Front rival groupings clashed on Saturday at the Patriotic Front Secretariat are on-going.
Katongo said the police are investigating the whole incident which includes the two journalists who got injured in the fracas.
She said police have since invited Francis Maingaila to the police headquarters to give his statement.
Maingaila also confirmed that he has been asked to go to the police headquarters tomorrow so that a statement could be recorded from him.
On Saturday, PF rival groupings clashed at their secretariat before Chishimba Kambwili announced his return to the ruling party.
A police officer, two journalists - Maingaila and Nancy Malwele - and notorious Innocent Kalimanshi sustained injuries.
Property was also damaged in the fracas.
President Edgar Lungu at the World Press Freedom Day event said the confusion at the PF Secretariat was the last test for Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja and the police.
President Lungu said his eyes were now fixed on the case to see what action the police would take against criminal elements from his party who took part in the violence at the secretariat.
