Airtel launches 5G
Airtel has launched 5G network.
Gracing the launch yesterday, Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati reiterated government’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for digital infrastructure development.
Mutati said 5G Network creates massive potential to transform oneself.
He said the network is the new, fast and advanced way of doing business adding that 5G will also enhance the agriculture sector technologically.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Media Chushi Kasanda applauded Airtel for the move saying 5G has potential to shape the nation's future, drive economic growth and improve the lives of people in the country.
Kasanda further said the network will empower entrepreneurs to reach new markets, students in accessing world knowledge at their fingertips and doctors to deliver telemedicine services to the remote corners of the country.
"I can't help but feel a deep sense of pride and joy, having previously worked at the then Zamcell, now Airtel, I had the privilege to witness firsthand Airtel's evolution from its early days as Zamcell, Celtel and Zain from 2G in 1998 to 3G in 2009,” she said.
And Airtel Africa-Regional Director (East Africa) Apoorva Mehrotra said 5G will give customers a reason to imagine and fulfill their dreams and aspirations.
